Introducing the Reef Bio-Gro 2.0 Advanced Algae Reactor, a cutting-edge solution for maintaining a pristine reef aquarium. Available in small and medium sizes, this reactor is designed to grow macro-algae, which plays a crucial role in controlling nutrient levels, ensuring the health and stability of your marine environment.

How It Works

The Reef Bio-Gro 2.0 harnesses the natural power of macro-algae to combat excess nitrates and phosphates, two common byproducts in reef aquariums that can lead to algae overgrowth and poor water quality. As the macro-algae thrives in the reactor, it absorbs these unwanted nutrients, keeping your water parameters in check and reducing the likelihood of nuisance algae outbreaks in the display tank.

Equipped with a high-performance double-sided AquaRay LED lighting board that uses energy-efficient Samsung LEDs, the reactor delivers optimal lighting for algae growth. These LEDs provide high Photosynthetically Usable Radiation (PUR), promoting faster and more effective macro-algae growth while consuming minimal energy (only 9W). The result is a highly efficient nutrient export system that works naturally within your aquarium’s ecosystem.

Benefits of Owning an Algae Reactor

  • Improved Water Quality: By reducing nitrates and phosphates, the Reef Bio-Gro 2.0 helps maintain cleaner, clearer water, creating a healthier environment for your fish, corals, and invertebrates.
  • Natural Nutrient Export: The growth of macro-algae is a natural and sustainable way to export excess nutrients from your tank, reducing reliance on chemical filtration methods.
  • Control of Nuisance Algae: With fewer nutrients available in your display tank, you’ll experience less unwanted algae growth on rocks and glass, saving you time and effort in maintenance.
  • Compact & Versatile Design: The Reef Bio-Gro 2.0’s compact size makes it easy to install either inside your sump or externally as a standalone unit. It comes with all necessary pipework and fittings, so it can be seamlessly integrated into your existing setup.
  • Easy Algae Harvesting: When it’s time to harvest the algae, the reactor’s design allows for easy access – simply unscrew the lid and pull the algae out. This harvested algae can even be used as a nutritious food source for herbivorous fish and invertebrates.

Whether you’re new to reef keeping or an experienced aquarist, the Reef Bio-Gro 2.0 is an excellent tool for controlling nutrient levels, enhancing water quality, and maintaining a vibrant, healthy reef ecosystem.
