If you haven't already, you can download Fishkeeper app from the Google Play or Apple store by searching Fishkeeper in your preferred app store. You can find out more about the app here.
The app is completely free to use and contains a range of handy tools to help you take better care of your fish. You can read more about the app in general here: https://www.fishkeeper.co.uk/fishkeeper-app
Take a few seconds to create your account in the app by sharing a few simple details such as your name and email address and select your preferred/local store. (Choosing a local store will enable that store to share local promotions and news that may be of interest direct to your phone).
Set up your aquarium details and click on the completed profile to take you to the ‘Aquarium Health’ tab of the app. You can read more about why you need to test your water by clicking on the link at the top of the screen under the tabs or by visiting this page on our website to find out more.
Then to get started click on the large green + button in the bottom right of the screen.
At the top of the screen, click on the ‘Please select’ drop down to choose the test you would like to add. You will see the option to set minimum and maximum values, or you can simply leave these at the default values. Once set, if any of your readings fall outside of this range, then the app will alert you to take action. You can then add your first water quality reading and change the date of the reading as needed to reflect your actual testing date. There are 13 predefined parameters, with the option to add a custom option, so even a full ICP test can be recorded! If any of the predefined parameter range values are not wide enough, you can always set up a custom version of this parameter with a range you’d prefer. Likewise, if you wish to amend or add any previous test data, this can easily be done using the edit function.
If you then click back to the Aquarium Health tab you will see three sub-tabs where you can view your data in a range in formats - Data (as you have just added). Graph where you can see the visual trend of your data (please note, you require at least 2 test results for a graph to be created) and History which will document each action you take in this section so you can refer back to when you added data and the specific values you added over a period of time. Both Graph and History have the option to be viewed over a number of periods by using the drop-down menu to the top right hand side.
We recommend that you create a regular routine for testing your core water parameters which will vary depending on your set-up. If you would like any specific help in determining the parameters that are most important for your pets, please speak to one of our friendly in-store team and they will be happy to advise and help you set up your particular parameters. You can find details of your local store here.
