Fishkeeper Fry week 4 is now over for our participating schools. It's been an exciting week with the addition of more fish.

With many schools approaching their half-term break, students have been learning about the importance of maintaining their aquariums and caring for their fish while they are away.

Tappers has explained how to clean the filter using water from the tank to preserve beneficial bacteria. Additionally, Tappers has discussed adding Bio Boost to support and maintain the friendly bacteria in the tank.

In week 4, schools had the opportunity to add four Platies to their aquariums. Once again, Tappers challenged the students to come up with names for their new aquatic friends. Some of the chosen names included Shrek, Nacho, Ivy, and Dalmatian.

Week 4 also focuses on how to care for the fish during the half-term break, particularly if no one is available to check on them. Tappers explains the use of holiday food and the importance of avoiding overfeeding.

Over the past few weeks, many schools have visited their local Maidenhead Aquatics store. Our staff are always delighted to give students a tour and answer any questions they may have.

We always love hearing about and seeing who has been awarded ‘Fishkeeper of the Week.’ With so many students putting in the effort and doing their best, it can be a challenging decision for teachers!
