Maidenhead Aquatics has been a corporate supporter of World Land Trust since 2010, and from the beginning has donated £1 to World Land Trust for every fish box sold through a group of stores. As of April 2016, total donations from fish box sales reached over £11,000. These donations support WLT’s Action Fund which allows the Trust to direct funding quickly to the most pressing conservation projects, which include key appeals and Buy an Acre projects.

In 2015, World Land Trust’s Action Fund supported land purchase and protection in Armenia, Bolivia, Colombia, Honduras and Peru. Also during the year the Action Fund supported two urgent requests from WLT conservation partners, one following the earthquakes in Nepal where emergency funds were needed to assist anti-poaching measures while the country’s security forces focused on humanitarian relief efforts, and in Vietnam where 200 endangered turtles were seized by the government and funds were needed to properly feed, rehydrate and care for these endangered species prior to their reintroduction into the Trust’s project area in Quang Binh Province.

Maidenhead Aquatics also supports World Land Trust through a £1 donation from the sale of each 30th Anniversary ‘Bag for Life’ which has raised £15,000 to save and protect 150 acres of Colombian rainforest. Additionally, WLT collecting boxes are on the counters of several stores and our customers respond very generously to give extra help to WLT projects.

As the largest independent specialist aquatics retailer in the world, we’ve always believed we have a responsibility to the environment as well as to our customers. That’s why we’re proud to support World Land Trust and assist in saving some of the world’s most threatened environments”, said Paul Walden, Senior Partner, Maidenhead Aquatics.
