SeaShell Aquariums (now Seabray aquariums) heritage is well known within the aquatic hobby and is no doubt still one of the best-made aquariums money can buy! These elite aquariums are expertly built and are available in Mekong, Tiepolo and Vintage Oak wood finishes. The cabinets are 30inches high.
Key Features
Natural wood finish
The sturdy wood laminate cabinet has 2 useful cupboards that are big enough to house even the largest of external filters plus store all of your other items or equipment such as food, test kits, water conditioners and glass cleaners safely. Likewise, the removable matching hood allows plenty of access into the aquarium and provides an easy way to mount a multitude of aquarium lights.
High Grade Float Glass
The glass aquarium itself measures 36” in length by 15” front to back by 20” high, and is made from high grade 6mm float glass. The aquarium also comes complete with easy to remove cover glasses and has suitably placed bracing bars to allow equipment such as protein skimmers to be fitted. The silicone used for these aquariums is clear.
How easy it is to set up an aquarium?
Place the tank on a sturdy, level surface away from direct sunlight and drafts. Rinse the tank, substrate (like gravel or sand), and ornaments with water—don’t use soap. Plug in and test all equipment such as heaters, filters, air pumps, and lights. Remember to make sure the heaters are fully submerged before turning them on.
Spread the substrate evenly at the bottom of the tank. Arrange your decorations—rocks, plants, and ornaments—how you like. When filling the tank, add a water conditioner to remove chlorine and other chemicals from the tap water, then gently pour the water to avoid disturbing the substrate.
Add a bacterial supplement to help cycle your tank, it can take a couple of weeks for the environment to become safe enough for your fish to thrive in. Make sure to regularly use test kits to monitor ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.
Maintain your aquarium by doing weekly water changes of 10-20%, cleaning or replacing filter media as needed, and regularly checking water quality and fish health.
What else should be brought?
What species of fish will be suitable for this aquarium?
This aquarium is perfect for cooler water fish such as goldfish, minnows, and danios. Minnows like White Cloud Mountain Minnows and Rosy Red Minnows are hardy and colourful, while Zebra Danios are active and add dynamic movement to the tank. All these species thrive in cooler temperatures, making them ideal for this setup.
If you decide to add a heater, you can expand your options to include warmer-water fish. With a heater, you can accommodate a diverse range of tropical species, including South American and African cichlids, as well as L-number plecos. These fish prefer slightly warmer temperatures, typically ranging from 22-26°C. Adding a heater allows you to create a more varied and vibrant aquatic community.
