Q: What is aquascaping?
A: Aquascaping is the art of arranging aquatic plants, rocks, wood, and substrate in an aesthetically pleasing manner within an aquarium. Often compared to underwater gardening, it blends design principles with biological science to create thriving ecosystems. Common styles include the lush Dutch style, minimalist Iwagumi rock landscapes, and nature-inspired layouts.
Q: Why is high-quality glass important in aquariums?
A: High-quality, low-iron content glass, like the Visi-White glass used in Fluval kits, offers superior clarity, enhancing the visual appeal of the aquarium. It reduces the greenish tint common in standard glass, ensuring a clearer view of your aquatic creations and making colors pop.
Q: What is the role of CO2 in aquascaping?
A: Carbon dioxide is a vital element for photosynthesis in aquatic plants. The Bio CO2 Pro system included in the Visi-White kits delivers a safe and efficient supply of CO2, promoting lush, healthy plant growth, which also helps maintain water quality and a balanced ecosystem.
Q: How do I choose the right aquarium size?
A: The right size depends on your space, budget, and the species or design you want to feature. The Visi-White range offers a 78L option (60cm) ideal for small to medium setups and a 202L option (90cm) for larger, more elaborate designs.
Q: Why is external filtration important?
A: External canister filters, like the Fluval 07 series included with these kits, provide powerful and efficient filtration. They maintain water clarity, reduce odors, and create a stable environment by removing debris, harmful toxins, and excess nutrients.
Q: Can I keep fish in an aquascaped tank?
A: Absolutely! Aquascaped tanks are perfect for showcasing vibrant fish species like tetras, rasboras, or dwarf cichlids. Plants and decor provide natural hiding spots, reducing stress and mimicking their native habitats.
