UVC light breaks up the genetic material (DNA) of bacteria in air, water and on hard surfaces so they can no longer function or reproduce. It’s a natural germicide that has been used to disinfect hospital room surfaces, public places, money and drinking water. In aquariums, UVC light kills suspended bacteria and algae that contribute to cloudy or murky water.
Connects in-line to all canister filter hosing with an internal diameter of 5/8″ (or 16mm), including all Fluval 07 and 06 Series canister filters. The UVC can be used on any external filter that has tubing of 16mm.
Key Features:
Replacement Bulbs
Fluval have carefully thought about the efficiency of the unit, they have used a cold cathode which prolongs the bulbs life by up to 3x meaning a possible usage of 30,000 hours. The unit comes with a timer which can be set to run continuously or intermittent stints again helping to prolong the UV life. If you reach this limit the bulb is now sold seperately and can be replaced.
Maintains Healthy Clear Water
The UVC clarifier helps maintain a clear & healthy environment. A chemical-free and maintenance-free way to purify water. It prevents and eradicates suspended bacteria and algae in the water column that contribute to cloudy and green water, respectively. Also helps prevent the growth of cyanobacteria (blue-green slime algae), which often smothers and destroys aquatic plants.
Compact and Versatile
Can be used wtih freshwater, saltwater and even turtle aquariums where algae is often present. The condensed design redirects water flow up, down and around the bulb to maximise contact time for effective clarification in as small space as possible. Fits easily into most aquarium cabinets and with any external filter that uses 16mm tubing.
