Anagallis tenella is a delicate, hairless evergreen perennial of creeping, mat-forming habit. This is a pretty British native plant which may be found growing on damp ground in bogs and dune slacks, mainly on acidic soils. The slender, short stems with opposing pairs of round leaves will develop tiny (1cm across), pink-striped, 5-petalled, funnel shaped flowers, during June-August. It is best planted in bog gardens, beds, borders, or pots in a sheltered area with moist, but well drained soil. No pruning is usually required, and it is generally a disease-free plant. Propagated by seeds or division.
