Eels

Eels have long held a fascination for fish keepers and a number of species are available to suit a range of aquaria.

Spiny eels are popular pets which come in a range of sizes, the Fire eel is a fish that demands a large tank and like its smaller kin, is happiest when kept in groups. Smaller species are great additions to a community of fishes that aren’t bite-sized and that have plenty of hiding places as well as a very secure lid. All eels are master escape artists, and the corners of your aquarium are typically where they’ll investigate for an easy exit.

Eels like meaty foods, with frozen and live foods being the most likely to tempt them out of hiding. It’s important to offer a quality sinking pellet or tablet food though, to ensure their diet is balanced and has all the vitamins and minerals they need.
