Danios and minnows are an important group, with many of their number found in cool, mountain streams in the wild – a heritage that makes them the perfect choice for well-filtered unheated set ups where Goldfish would be too large and messy.
Those native to dynamic habitats love highly oxygenated fast-moving water, in contrast to those such as the Celestial pearl danio which prefer quieter conditions with plenty of cover.
