White spot is a protozoan parasite; the adults live on the fish and appear as tiny white spots, parasites usually attack fish that are stressed, which can be caused by factors including rapid temperature and pH fluctuations. It is most commonly seen when new fish are introduced to an aquarium. It has a complex 7 day life cycle. The eggs live in the substrate while the juveniles are free-swimming and the adults appear on the fish as tiny white spots.
