AquaPond Care General Medication has been formulated to treat bacterial, fungus and parasite issues in pond fish. This medication is safe for all pond fish and targeted for effectiveness against external fungus, bacteria, white spot and slime parasite problems.

Certain species of bacteria cause fin, mouth and body tissue to be eaten away. A bacterial infection may cause tail, fin and mouth rot in susceptible fish — those who are bullied or injured by fin-nipping tank mates — especially when kept in poor conditions. Open wounds are also susceptible to fungal attack which can result in cotton wool-like infestations.

Fish are susceptible to internal and external parasites. An obvious sign of internal parasites is when fish become very thin but still continue to feed. When your fish become lethargic, fins are clamped, thin-looking, gasping and showing signs of rubbing/irritation these are clear signs that your fish requires treatment.

External parasites often cause symptoms like Slime & Velvet. The symptoms include a peppering of tiny white or gold specs across the body and a coating of excess mucus - slime - on the skin. Slime and velvet are caused by a variety of parasites which will be naturally present in small numbers on fish. In a healthy environment, the fish’s immune system will cope with these parasites however fish stress (mostly caused by bad water quality) can lead to major outbreaks of parasites.

Early diagnosis of these problems is essential to prevent the infection from becoming fatal. However diagnosis can be difficult as many health issues have similar external effects. A preventative dose of general medication can be useful and enough, if problems persist it is worth securing a more exact diagnosis and using a targeted concentrated treatment.

As well as being a fast effective treatment of all these issues; this targeted treatment is completely wildlife safe!

Symptoms include:

  • Fish are flicking or rubbing
  • Fish gasping at the surface
  • Mouth and fins rotting away
  • White cotton-like growths
  • Peppering of white or yellowish spots
  • Emaciation (sunken belly)
  • Clamped fins
  • Lethargy, sluggish behaviour

Use 50ml per 2273 litres or 500 gallons treat once a day for 5 days

  • 250ml bottle treats 2273 litres or 500 gallons (5 days x 50ml)

Directions for use

  1. Calculate the ponds volume in litres using the following: [Length x width x average depth (in metres)] x 1000
  2. Shake bottle well
  3. Remove dosage chamber cap and foil seal, squeeze bottle until chamber is filled to the required level.
  4. Add 50ml for every 2273l of pond water. We recommend adding the treatment to a bucket of pond water and then evenly distributing this over the surface of the pond, or an area with high flow. This is a dye based treatment therefore water will become discoloured.
  5. This is a course of treatment, the pond should be treated every day at approximately the same time for 5 consecutive days.
  6. We recommend testing your water for any underlying water quality issues to help prevent further parasite problems.
  7. If necessary it is safe to repeat this course of treatment 7 days after the last day of treatment.
